The other day I was browsing my Facebook feed when I saw a status that caught my attention. It was from an old friend of mine who lives in the UK. She commented on how much she missed her family and wanted to have a vacation with them soon. My heart instantly melted as it reminded me of my own family vacations growing up. My whole family used to hop on a plane and fly halfway across the world just to be together for a week or two. We would join other relatives in Thailand, Malaysia or India for a vacation once every couple years. Later in life, whenever we visited each other, it was always so refreshing to see each other after however long. After all these years, here I am. Surrounded by four walls as I write this post. You see, raising children is a wonderful and fulfilling experience but we tend to forget about our own needs, desires and wants as we get bogged down with those responsibilities, errands and chores that can often pile up on a daily basis.
